If you are travelling in or out of England, you have to quarantine yourself in your residency for at least 10 days. The quarantine rules depend on the place you travel 10 days before you arrive in the UK. You will also need to have two Covid tests after arriving so you need to pre-book them. For leaving the UK you must provide the complete documentation that proves that you are tested negative for Covid.
Quarantine on Arrival
If you are arriving in the UK, you must take two tests for Covid before. After arriving, quarantine yourself at your place or in a managed quarantine hotel if required.
If you are arriving from those countries which are on the red list or which are banned for travelling, you will need to compulsorily quarantine yourself in a managed quarantine hotel. If you are not travelling from a banned country, you can quarantine yourself at your own place.
Ending Isolation
You can end isolation by test to release scheme. If you pay for a private Covid test, you may be able to take the benefit of the test release scheme. However, do note that you will still have to take the two mandatory tests that you have to book before travelling. Do also note that if you are travelling from a country which is on the banned list, you cannot avail of the test release scheme and you will have to isolate yourself according to the above-mentioned rules.
If your test results are negative, you can stop isolation when you receive the results. If you are tested positive, you should isolate yourself for 10 days and continue until the results are negative. It is better to take the test at earliest. You can take the test at least 5 days after you arrive in the UK.
At Border Control
When you are at the airport, railway station, or a port, you must wear face masks and observe all rules of social distancing. You will need to provide the following documents:
● Your ID card or passport
● Proof of negative Covid test
● Passenger locator form
Keep in mind that you may have to wait for long hours on the border control because of the pandemic. Please show some patience and cooperate with the authorities.
Mandatory Passenger Locator Form
It is mandatory to show your passenger locator form when you are arriving in the UK. The form is used to contact you in case someone you met has contracted the disease. This helps the government in effectively isolating potential spreaders.
Conclusion
These were the rules that are compulsory for everyone who is travelling to and from the UK. You will need to provide the mandatory documents and will have to isolate yourself for 10 days. If you are travelling from high-risk countries, you will have to isolate yourself in quarantine hotels.
