The Importance of Presentation in Marketing

The Importance of Presentation in Marketing

Marketing basically means, identifying the desires, wants of the market and working on increasing the sales. Production, promotion, sale, price regulation, advertisement etc- all come under the wide array of marketing. Since marketing is an integral part of any business or brand, it must have a channel to execute all of its tasks. Although, presentations are but one tool used in marketing, they are a very important tool at that. Marketing is all about getting people interested in knowing more about your product (or service). Ultimately, the consumer is lured into buying that product (or service). Given the demand of visuals in present day and age, what can be better than a marketing presentation to achieve the marketing objectives?

Here are some points that show how important presentations are in the marketing:

To enhance brand image and spread brand message

Marketing presentations are a gateway to brand building. When you say brand image, it means two things. First is the reputation of the brand or what kind of quality a brand promises to deliver. Second refers to the idea of the brand in the mind of the public. How a person perceives a certain brand depends on the kind of image it brings forward. As human beings fundamentally perceive through five senses, presentations play a major role in displaying the brand image. Presentations stimulate two senses at a time-auditory and visual- leading to a magnified creation of the brand in people’s brain.

For better market positioning

“Strategy is about stretching limited resources to fit ambitious aspirations”, says Don Soderquist in his book The Wal-Mart Way: The Inside Story of the Success of the World's Largest Company. Strategize the available resources carefully to get a satisfactory rank in the market. Market positioning, as the name suggests, is an overarching term for where a brand stands among all the similar-product- selling brands. Presentations are probably the cheapest resource that can be utilized to uplift your position in the market. Improving market position not only includes singing praises of your own brand, but also conveying how your competitors are less than you. This does not mean you go on criticizing your rivals. But in order to get ahead of someone, it is equally essential to mention their flaws so that the customers get quality. Presentations best serve this end in marketing.

To keep a check on consumers as well as competitors

PowerPoint presentations are not just a display of slides with a speaker speaking along. When people gather for a presentation, they interact with each other on a whole different level. In a marketing presentation, a brand gets to know who their consumers are and what they are like. Presentations are very much a mirror to the brand ideals. If you happen to attend one of your competitor’s presentations, you can get a rough idea about their principles, aims and strategies. So, presentations are an outstanding means to keep track of consumers and competition in marketing.

To train the employees in the art of marketing

Sometimes your employees require training in order to excel in their marketing skills. In network marketing, specifically, there is a special need for designing training programs and workshops. All these training programs or workshops are in the form of presentations only. To determine what kind of training is needed, a lot of effort goes into designing training presentations. “How to empathize with the public”, “how to use humour while conversing with the consumers” and so on are some of the topics taught in the training sessions. Presentations are the most efficient modes to illuminate these concepts vividly.
