Air Travel Myths that Need to be Debunked

Air Travel Myths that Need to be Debunked

At some point or the other, we all hear certain things about air travel which we assume to be true. However, what the truth actually is and what we perceive to be true is altogether a different story! There are a number of myths associated with air travel and plane tickets reservations that are floating around in the minds of most of the travellers. Read on to know about these popular myths so that you can have a hassle-free flying experience.

Myth: Cheap Airlines always provide the best deal

Most of the travellers assume that their favourite cheap airline always has the best deal. But this isn’t true. Be it any budget airline; Frontier or Spirit, it is not necessary that every time it will offer you the best deal. But then, what should be done? It is advisable to research thoroughly across different airlines in order to get your hands on the lowest-priced flight deals.

Myth: Booking tickets at the earliest can help you score the cheapest flights

Airlines start monitoring the flight prices only after a certain period, not too early. Thus, you can book your flights mid-way, neither too early nor too late, if you want to grab the best flight price. Generally, air plane tickets are the cheapest around 3 months prior to the departure in case of domestic flights while for international flights, the best time to book your flights is around 5 months before your travel dates.

Myth: Deals are available at the last moment

Earlier, airlines did provide discounts on last-minute flights. But now, they have understood the customer’s behaviour and demands. As a result, these airlines have started filling up all their seats in advance so that they do not have to provide discounts at the last-minute. So, instead of looking for last-minute flights, you should book your plane tickets at least seven days in advance prior to your scheduled departure.

Myth: Connecting flights are always cheaper as compared to non-stop flights

It is true that connecting flights are cheaper than non-stop flights most of the times, but not always. We cannot generalize this fact as sometimes non-stop flights tend to be more economical. That is why it is always advisable to compare both the options always before you buy air tickets.

Myth: Load as much as possible in the free carry-on luggage

Most travellers believe that carry-on bags are allowed without any fees. However, this is not true. Some of the airlines do charge extra to bring carry-on bags. Moreover, there are size limitations that are applicable to carry-on bag allowance. So, you need to be careful about what all you bring in your carry-on.

Myth: Duty-free is always cheaper

No matter duty-free products are enticing; be it chocolates or cosmetics, this doesn’t imply that they have the lowest price. Duty-free products are those products on which taxes are not levied. However, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they are cheaper. There may be some duty-free shops at certain airports that provide cheaper products but most of the time you’ll end up paying more than the usual price.

Breaking through the myths and confusion regarding air travel will not only help you bag plane tickets at the best price but also make your journey comfortable!
